“Friends of the BDL” support the idea that our library is a valuable community asset that needs nourishment to help foster the educational aspirations of young children, youth, and adults. Friends groups are citizens who use their collective powers to do everything from running book sales, assisting the library board and staff with special events, to purchasing special technology, promoting literacy, and much more!
Thank You for Giving: Friends of the Boyne District Library Fundraiser a Success
Brunch and Books was the name of the successful fundraiser held at Santé in Boyne City on Sunday, Nov. 3. Santé donated 10% of all the event’s food receipts to the Friends of the Boyne District Library. A silent auction of books and book-related items generated sizeable bids. And, a number of brunch attendees gave generous cash donations, all contributing to the final amount. “We owe a sincere thanks to all the people who came out tosupport us, to those who donated auction items, and to the many individuals whogave us cash donations on their way out the door,” says Friends’ Board President Betsy Koss. “And, of course we thank Santé for staging the event, donating part of their profits, and creating beautiful advertising posters.” The brunch was just one of many different fundraising events given throughout the year by the Friends of the Boyne District Library to support library programs and initiatives.
